Acid Reflux Home Remedies - Nothing Works Better Than Them

Acid reflux or GERD (Gastro esophageal reflux disease) is a condition that brings discomfort to those who suffer from it. It can happen at anytime with heartburn being one of the main symptoms you will notice. The pain is very irritating and it can last for few minutes or a few hours. There are several home remedies available for curing acid reflux. I am going to explore seven of the better ones. Definitely you will be able to find one that best suits you.

1. Slippery Elm Bark- This amazing herb has been used for generations. Its powder from the bark is used as tea to help alleviate the symptoms. It is good for digestion and has several beneficial properties that can help with GERD. 1 cup of tea usually is enough for protection all night long, till the next morning.

2. Fennel Seeds- Fennel seeds are powerful aromatic herbs. Slowly chew a 1/2 a teaspoon of fennel seeds just after each meal to prevent GERD symptoms.

3. Ginger- Ginger is one of the most highly effective home remedies for acid reflux. The effectiveness of ginger is due to its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. You can eat a small amount of raw ginger or you can make ginger tea. Having ginger tea, two times a day, helps you to keep the pH levels of the digestive system neutral.

4. Garlic- Yes, the smelly and lowly garlic! Eating garlic everyday is also an excellent home remedy for curing reflux. The garlic must be fresh and it needs to be either crushed or chewed. 2-3 cloves of garlic a day should be plenty in helping ease the symptoms of GERD.

5. Pineapple- Most people have acid reflux because they are deficient in enzymes. This is where pineapple comes in. Pineapples are rich in enzymes, especially in Bromelain, which digest protein. These enzymes improve digestion, reduce inflammation, and promote healing.

6. Papaya- Papaya is also a great home remedy for acid reflux disease. Change your diet to alkaline, eat fresh papaya or drink Papaya juice. Papaya contains papain, which has a calming effect on the stomach and helps in the protein digestion. Papaya is also packed with beneficial minerals and vitamins.

7. Almonds- Snack on almonds. Almonds are one of the best acid reflux home remedies. The perfect time to eat these is before every meal. This is when they will work their best to cure GERD. Make sure to thoroughly chew them.

Now have a rest. Choose one remedy that suits you and continue using it. No longer will you be stuck paying money for expensive medications to keep your acid reflux at bay.
